Christmas Cats

Thanks to your generosity they know it's Christmas.
To the fortunate sanctuary strays Christmas is love, care and support.
The Cats wish you may experience love too. Not just at Christmas,
They give it freely ;-)

Can Cats fly?

Yes, they can. These five Ex-Csaf Cats flew abroad  from Malta International Airport this year. Two more are waiting in the wings.....

Hi flyers January 2020: Kamadu and Paul

Lending wings

How many hands does it take to give a Cat wings? There are these amazing humans who literally do it single handed: from rescuing the lucky Cat to welcoming it into its new home abroad. They are  heroes indeed.
Most Cats however rely on a wider, closely knit safety net. There are the "parents", who rescue and adopt, the vets, who check, vaccinate and prepare the passport, the fosterers, who generously welcome the hopeful traveller into their homes and prepare the Cat for change and take-off.
There are also those who look for and book the flight, those who co- ordinate vet visits, hand-overs and journey, and those who actually take the Cat on the plane.
It is team work between a lot of people who all agree that time invested is well spent.
There is always a wrench: when the Cat leaves the Sanctuary, after the fostering and finally after the flight, when the Cat is handed over. Because we all get close.
However, the end is also the beginning: we have been contributing to a new life for a Cat who is starting into a hopefully happy and fulfilled relationship.
If you can see yourself as part of a "flying team", be it as a fosterer or in any of the other roles, send a text to 99908714.

 Eye catchers

These 16 Cats caught the eye of Yui from Japan during her visit to our sanctuary on October 8.
Who would have caught your eye?

Mogli. A dog breaking down walls.

Picture
Mogli also speaks the universal language of love. Even to Cats!
From human hate  and animal suffering grow understanding and empathy. Mogli, a street dog rescued from Belgrade,  knows what fear and suffering mean. However, he has experienced healing and love. Now he is extending his paw to street Cats. Differences no longer matter: Mogli will give up the company of his German Mummy and her friend for  two weeks. So his humans can both travel to Malta and care for stray and abandoned Cats in the Sanctuary. To spread love and to give carers a chance to refuel.

Emi: The language of love

Cats are looking forward to August when Emi will re-visit them from Japan. Emi will spend 5 weeks in Malta caring for stray and abandoned Sanctuary Cats. Love knows neither distance, nor borders.

Visitors from Australia and South Africa
18.07.2018

Cats had more visitors from far away. They brought them what Cats love and need:
Affection, Treats, Care and Communication.

Cats heard with a little shiver that strays in Melbourne go to a pound where they only have a limited time to get adopted. They were very pleased to be safe in a Sanctuary
And they heard with interest about Cinnamon, Snowflake, Midnight and Sky. Four fortunate Cats - two from South Africa and two from Malta -  who are sharing one family. How wonderful it must be to find humans who offer you a home!

             The Cats receive Marlene Mizzi

                                                 09.05.2018

About 10% of the 300 Sanctuary Cats work as full time diplomats. They see it as their task to greet, escort and entertain our numerous visitors, proudly and professionally representing Csaf. They facilitate discussions and you see them posing in most pictures. Their ears and whiskers reliably point forward and the higher their rank, the more vertically they carry their tails.
They had a field day when they met a kindred spirit in Marlene Mizzi. After all, she fully understands and appreciates politics, diplomacy and the importance of representing Cats as well as humans.

The Cats' Garden Raffle Draw

The Prizes
  Dinner for Two                                    Mountainbike                                          Hamper
Under the critical eyes of the Cats the 3 lucky winners were drawn on Sunday morning 7 January 2018:
  • The first prize (mountain bike) went to the pink ticket no. 072 of serial 7563
  • The second prize (dinner for two) went to the pink ticket no. 041 of serial 7563
  • The third prize (hamper) went to the yellow ticket no. 099 of serial 1371
Cats thank Betty Apap who blindfold drew the tickets on their behalf, the generous donors and sponsors of prizes and all who bought tickets. The raised amount of more than 600 € will help their new garden to flourish.

Visitors from the Tbexbix (Sunrise) Centre

07.12.2017
A pre-Christmas surprise for the Cats! They and their carers were delighted to receive presents and a delegation of visitors from Cospicua’s Tbexbix Sunrise Centre.

A happy morning was spent by all! While the Cats admired their gifts the delegation eagerly explored the Sanctuary. Csaf president Doris Zarb answered questions and introduced individual Cats.
Both, Cats and Visitors, hope to strengthen links in the New Year 2018!

A Special Sunday with the Sliema Scouts

08.09.2017

The CSAF Cats were most pleased to receive a group of Sliema Scouts on the first Sunday in September.

The cats happily demonstrated feline behaviour and cat/scout communication took off to a promising start.

Volunteers enjoyed the opportunity to pass on expertise and concerns to Malta's next generation of cat carers.  Neutering, good care practices, hygiene, sponsoring and fulfilling basic needs were discussed and practiced as part of a program which had the stray or abandoned cat at its heart.

Everybody makes a difference and we all can change the life of fellow creatures for the better was the clearly understood message of the day.

The Cats certainly and visibly enjoyed the interest, attention and respectful care they received on that special morning.

Now the Cats are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the photo competition. Who would not like to be voted the most popular of ALL?
